Jessica Danielle Townsend is a native of Lynchburg, VA, who now calls North Carolina home. She is married to Christian rapper and producer Mikal Townsend, and together they lead HIS Heart Beatz, a ministry dedicated to building Kingdom families. Their unique blend of gifts—Jessica’s passion for teaching and worship, and Mikal’s talent for music production and lyrical storytelling—creates a powerful anointing when they minister together. Mikal ignites the atmosphere with original songs that teach scripture through the arts, while Jessica engages hearts and minds through interactive workshops and creative biblical teaching.

Jessica holds a B.A. in Music Education and an M.A. in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Family Advocacy. She serves with Agape Ambassadors Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that shares the gospel with incarcerated youth through “Jesus is the Answer” retreats. She also co-directs The Pour, a preventative discipleship program for teens and young adults in transitional life circumstances, where she serves as program coordinator, speaker, and mentor.

Through her faithful service, Jessica has discovered a deeper revelation of her identity in Christ, her calling, and her passion for equipping the next generation to know Jesus personally.

Jessica is a dynamic speaker who has ministered at numerous church services and events. She has served as a youth director, praise and worship leader, and is also a recording artist, spoken word poet, and a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor—a testimony to God’s healing and sustaining power.

Her book, Heart Security, is available wherever books are sold. You can also find her music projects—“God That Healeth Thee” and “Come to Praise” (Graft3d), and “Soul Awake” (HIS Heart Beatz)—on all major digital music platforms.

My Personal Journey of Faith and Inspiration

To the late Edna F. Johnson, my beloved grandmother and best friend.

During my recovery from a traumatic brain injury, Grandma would often say, “Little Woman, you’re coming out of this better than you were before.” She was right. Her prophetic words and unwavering love became a lifeline—encouraging me to press into God’s presence and listen for His voice. It was in that sacred space, during therapy and healing, that the message of Heart Security was born.

Now, as I release this revised edition, I do so standing in the strength of God’s healing and deliverance. I love you, Grandma. Your legacy lives on in these pages, and I rejoice in the hope of Christ’s return—when we’ll be reunited in His glory.
